With winter seemingly behind us and with the amount of rain we have had to deal with, the course has come out the other side in a remarkably strong position. (The normal Oct - Dec average rainfall is 75-120 mm. The 2012 Oct-Dec rainfall was 320 mm - nearly 3 times the average).
The weather put paid to a lot of the course alterations I had planned, including tree planting, and changing approaches to the greens and bunkers, but we have managed to make a couple changes for the start of the new season.
Hollow-coring has been cancelled due to the unseasonably cold weather (is that a cheer I hear?!!!) but being in such a strong place, verti-cutting and tining will keep the greens up together through the season.
All being well we will be constructing a holding reservoir which will give us unlimited water!!! This will take place through the summer months (if we get any sun that is!!) so cross your fingers and lets hope for a decent summer.
Happy birdy Hunting,
Andy
