Latest Information from Andy on the status of the golf course

After the cores had been removed a seaweed soil conditioner was applied to basically take the green back to a neutral state ready for the winter application of fertilizers and conditioners. This was then top dressed with an AFS 50 sand and brushed into the holes and surface of the green.

These were then pulled into lines ready to be removed from the greens.

A finishing dressing is applied 2 weeks after to complete the job. The course, on the whole, has coped well with the weather and traffic throughout the year and with verti-draining and mole ploughing to take place in October, we will be set for the winter. If we get the right conditions, tree-planting and course re-development will take place. I will keep you posted on that.

Coming into the cooler months, and hollow coring has taken place to introduce fresh cleaner soil into the putting surface. As you can see from the first picture, we ran the coring machine over the greens to remove 20mm cores to a depth of 3".
